Our first celebrity film star born in June is the ever-beautiful Tonto Dikeh. Poko was born on the 9th of June 1985 in the Garden City of Rivers State. Her acting career kicked off in 2006 when she featured in the movie Tea or Coffee alongside Patience Ozokwor, aka Mama G. 

Tonto Dikeh has a vast filmography with movies too numerous to mention. Some of her popular movies include 7 Graves, Crisis in Paradise, Missing Child, Last Mission, Secret Mission, and the controversial Dirty Secret amongst others.

Born on June 17 1976, the talented actor made his first major appearance on TV in 2001 with the movie Border Line. At the time, he was still a Theatre Art undergraduate in the University of Nigeria.

However, it was the 2005 movie Across The Bridge that put him in the limelight. Since then, he’s starred in over a hundred Nollywood movies. In 1988, he featured in the movie End Time and his performance caught the interest of Nigerian music lovers. Another of his very popular movies is Last Burial. 

Clem Ohameze has featured in about 500 movies. Notably, he was a cast member in the movie Ije: The Journey which was released in 2010. Aside from acting, he once tried his hands in politics but didn’t get to contest for his intended position due to life-threatening attacks. Currently, he’s a member of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. 

4. Timini Egbuson 

At number 4 is one of the new school actors, Timini Egbuson. He started his acting career in 2010, just a year before he graduated from the University of Lagos. His first feature was on Tinsel, an M-net’s soap opera. The Bayelsian was born on June 10 1987. 

Timini Egbuson has featured in many other movies and TV shows including MTV Shuga, Sophia, Man Hunting with Mum, Fifty, Skinny Girl in Transit, and Elevator Baby. Notably, his role in Elevator Baby landed him an AMVCA award for Best Actor in a drama in 2020. He had previously won a Future Awards Africa Price For Acting award in 2019. In 2017, he was nominated for a City People Award for Best New Actor.

5. Hadiza Aliyu

The second celebrity actress on this list is Hadiza Aliyuh. Born on the 1st of June 1989, the talented actress has starred in both English and Hausa Nollywood movies. She began her acting career in 2009 and her most renowned movie is Ali Yaga Ali. 

Hadiza was born in Gabon so she started her career as a Kannywood actress before joining Nollywood in 2017. Her first Nollywood movie is Lagos Real Fake Life. This actress has many awards to her name including a Kwankwasiyya Award, Best of Nollywood Awards, African Hollywood Awards, and Arewa Night Award. 

Hadiza launched her foundation – the HAG Foundation – in 2016 to improve the lives of ordinary people via education and healthcare. 

6. Alibaba Akpobome

Alibaba is renowned as a stand-up comedian in Nigeria. Nevertheless, he’s also a very talented actor. He was born on the 24th of June 1965 and began his career as an entertainer in 1991. For the most part, he was a stand-up comedian and MC. He starred in a movie for the first time in 1998. The movie was My Guy.

Alibaba has starred in 4 more major movies including Alakada, The Last 3 digits, Head Gone, and The Wedding Party which was the highest grossing Nollywood movie for a year until its sequel was released. Alibaba married his wife in 2006 and the couple are blessed with 5 children.

7. Yomi Fash-Lanso

Yomi Fash-Lanso is a popular Nollywood actor that mainly acts in Yoruba movies. The actor was born on June 7th 1968 and he has acted in more than 100 movies. He is a business administration graduate from the University of Lagos. Some of his popular movies include Aje metta, Jenifa, Idoti oju, Opolo, Tani kin fe?, Temidun, Kadara Mi, Omo Elemosho, and Dazzling Mirage. 

His role in the movie Omo Elemosho earned him two nominations for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. The first was from the Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) while the other was from the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). He won the NEA award.

8. Chris Okagbue
