How To Vote In Nigerian Idol (2022)

Nigerian Idol 2022 is here and as usual fans are talking about it across all social networks. As the tradition of the show, fans get to decide who stays and who doesn’t by voting. Fans typically vote for their favourite performers or whoever wows them during the latest performance. Nigeria has an estimated population of over 2 million people with more than 42% falling into the youth bracket – this means there’s enough vote to go around. 

In this article, I’ll be showing you how to vote in Nigerian idol 2022. You can check out the various methods below: 

Ways To Vote On Nigerian Idol 

There are three main ways you can vote in Nigerian Idol and they include: 

  1. Mobile site (smartphone or tablet)
  2. Website (computer)
  3. MyDStv or MyGOtv App

The first two options – mobile site and website – are available for everyone. However, the last option is available for only active DSTV and GOTV subscribers respectively. 

How To Vote For Nigerian Idol On Mobile Site & Website 

Emphasis is on mobile site and website voting. This is because you’ll need to register an account. For the DSTV and GOTV app, you already have an account for you to be a subscriber. 

Here’s how to register with African Magic so you can vote on Nigerian Idol for both mobile site and website: 

  • Registration is done on the AfricanMagic Nigerian Idol page – www.africamagic.tv/nigerianidol 
  • Visit the website and click on the Vote menu item.
  • Next, click on Register and enter your details. This includes your name, surname, year of birth, gender, location and phone in international format – +234 for Nigeria. Note that not only Nigerians vote in Nigerian Idol  
  • Before submitting, you should create a password 
  • After you submit, you will receive an OTP (One Time Pin) via SMS to the phone number you provide 
  • Enter your OTP in the provided space and you’re done 

You’ll now be able to vote. Here’s how you can vote: 

  • Visit the AfricanMagic Nigerian Idol page – www.africamagic.tv/nigerianidol and select to vote. You may have to login using your phone number and password 
  • Next, select your favourite Contestant
  • Enter your number of votes 
  • Cast your vote 

You don’t pay any money on the website to vote. The only thing you spend is your data. Note that, however, there are voting limits. We’ll get to that later. Let’s look at how to vote on MyDSTV and MyGOTV app.  

How To Vote For Nigerian Idol On MyDSTV & MyGOTV

You’ll only be able to vote if you have an active subscription. If you do, then you need to create a voting account and then cast your vote. Here’s how to go about it: 

  • Ensure you’re logged into your app (Whether DSTV or GOTV) 
  • Click on the “Vote Now” option – you’ll see this once you launch the app 
  • Next, click on Register and enter your details. This includes your name, surname, year of birth, gender, location and phone in international format – +234 for Nigeria. Note that not only Nigerians vote in Nigerian Idol  
  • Before submitting, you should create a password 
  • After you submit, you will receive an OTP (One Time Pin) via SMS to the phone number you provide 
  • Enter your OTP in the provided space and you’re done 

As you can see, the process is not very different from that of the website. Here’s how to cast your vote: 

  • Log into your app and click on the Vote Now option 
  • Next, select your favourite Contestant
  • Enter your number of votes 
  • Cast your vote 

That’s it. Now let’s look at the number of votes you have for each voting option. 

Number of Votes & Limits 

For each voting round, you have 100 votes for each platform. That means: 

  • Mobile Site: 100 votes 
  • Website: 100 votes 

You can share your votes anyhow you like. For instance, you can give each contest 10 votes each, or give one 50, the other 25, and so on – anyhow you want. 

DSTV and GOTV subscribers have the upper hand in voting as they have extra votes. In addition, the number of votes you get depends on your subscription. The higher your subscription plan, the higher your number of votes. Check out the list below:

  • Premium/Bue/Mega: 2500 votes 
  • Compact +/Grande Mais: 1500 votes
  • Compact/Grande/Mini: 750 votes 
  • Confam/Family/Familia: 500 votes 
  • Yanga/Access/ Facil: 200 votes 

GOTV Subscribers 

  • GOtv Supa: 500 votes 
  • GOtv Max: 350 votes 
  • GOtv Jolli/Plus: 200 votes

Until the finale, we can only speculate the winner of Nigerian Idol 2022. Well, to use as a source of inferences, here are some notable past Nigerian Idol winners:

  1. Elizabeth Onwuka 

In 2011, Yeka Onka (Elizabeth Onwuka) was named the first Nigerian Idol, winning 7.5 million Naira, new car, and a Sony recording deal.
