Forensic Doctor Testifies That Baba Ijesha Applied Force in Penetrating Minor
A medical doctor has testified that a popular Yoruba movie actor applied “blunt penetration” in defiling a minor.
Dr. Aniekan Makanjuola, a forensic medical examiner and the head of Clinical Services at Women at Risk International Foundation (WARIF), said Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, forcefully had carnal knowledge of a minor seven years ago.
While testifying at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, Makanjuola said the unnamed minor was sexually molested by Baba Ijesha seven years ago and that she still bore marks of the forceful penetration.
“Our findings were that there was a blunt penetration of the vagina which was consistent with the client’s history,” she said. “There was a normal external genitalia, we observed a healed laceration on the labia minora at the 3 O’clock position; we also observed a notch at the 6 O’clock position.
“Based on these findings, my lord, the client was sent to the laboratory for more tests, they were HIV 1 and 2, Hepatitis A, B, Syphilis and pregnancy and they all came out negative.”
A child expert and executive director of Cece Yara Foundation, Olabisi Ajayi-Kayode, disclosed how Baba Ijesha wooed the minor seven years ago and even inserted a key into her private part. Ajayi-Kayode said the minor revealed during a taped interview that Baba Ijesha asked if she had a boyfriend and how he would like to be her boyfriend.
She said the sexual assault victim, now aged 14, said the actor asked her to sit on his lap and to remove her underwear. She said Baba Ijesha asked her to wriggle her buttocks on his private part until she felt a certain wetness.
“My concentration was on the cartoon I was watching; I couldn’t remember how long I was on his laps before I felt some wetness,” the teen recalled. “He cleaned himself with a handkerchief and asked me to clean myself up and I went to the bathroom to clean myself up with a towel,” she said.”
The teenager also said the actor brought fruits for her sick foster mother when she was sick seven years ago and asked her to bring in the fruits from his car.
“The car was parked at a T-junction and there was a wall and a gutter there; no one was on the other side,” the girl said. “The fruits were on the back seat; he opened the door in front and asked me to take the fruits. When I stretched to pick the fruits from the back seat, he put the car key into my private parts, and at the same time, he was trying to kiss me. After this incident, I did not see him again until seven years later.”
The judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, adjourned the case to November 5 and 12.
