Davido’s Personal Photographer Dies in Drowning Incident in Lagos
Davido’s personal photographer, Fortune Ateumunname, is dead. The Nigerian superstar’s photographer reportedly died in a drowning incident in Lagos. The incident which happened on Tuesday was allegedly during a shooting job.
According to an actor, Feranmi, who had a shooting appointment with the deceased, he got to the location only to learn that Fortune died in a drowning accident.
“Been trying to keep my cool since but it’s a crazy mixed feeling for me,” Feranmi wrote. “Had a shoot with Fortune right after my singing with Calufast and I got to the location and he was gone. He was out there trying to get angles at a very weird place that took him. I don’t even know how to feel.”
Fortune is the fifth member of Davido’s crew to die in four years, and the second to die this year.
Tagbo Umeike, one of his band members, died on his birthday in 2017. He died inside his car outside the Lagos Island General Hospital. He died from alcohol abuse. Another crew member, Olu Abiodun, also died in strange circumstances.
Davido’s personal bodyguard of 11 years, Tijani, also died in 2020 of liver complications. And in June this year, Uthman, popularly known as Obama DMW also lost his life to death.
Davido’s has not reacted to the incident of Fortune’s death, but close associates said he is very heartbroken and in mourning.

“Davido photographer Fortune is dead, Jesus Christ,” he tweeted. “I’m heartbroken, he’s my friend. I’m sooooo shocked right now. He shouldn’t have been Fortune God, he’s so hardworking, very ambitious he worked so hard to gain the spot he achieved like. This one is paining me because he is someone I know so well, guy.”
