Oloibiri is a movie based on real-life happenings. The movie was released in January 2015 and after about 6 years is still a top trending movie on Netflix. That tells a lot about its quality.
The plot tells the story of Oloibiri, a village in Delta state. It interprets how the village and its residents were affected after the first oil well was drilled in Nigeria.
Oloibiri runs for about 1 hour and 10 minutes. It was written by Samantha Iwowo and directed by Curtis Graham. You’ll like the movie if you love action and thriller as it’s a violent movie.

This movie is part of the Alakada film series. It’s one of the best Nigerian movies on Netflix to watch if you want to laugh. Fate of Alakada is all about Comedy.
The movie is all about a social influencer who manages to fake her way through any situation. In this part of the series, she takes on an event planning job; not just any event but a star-studded one.
Fate of Alakada was released in 2020 and the movie’s duration is 1 hour and 53 minutes. It was directed by Kayode Kasum and written by Mimi Bartels, Ozioma Ogbaji, and Moshood Yakubu Olowale.

4. God Calling

Do you love Gospel movies? If yes then God Calling is a movie you’ll love. Filmed in Lagos, the movie was released in 2018 and was recently added to Netflix.
In this movie, the main character, Sade was moved into suicidal depression after she lost her child. During her struggle, she encountered God and the story goes on.
God Calling was written by BB Sasore who also directed the movie. It runs for 120 minutes and has suspenseful, emotional, and inspiring themes. To many, it’s the current best Christian movie in Nigeria.
The movie cast include Zainab Balogun, Karibi Fubara, Diana Egwuatu, Tina Mba, Patrick Diabuah, Onyeka Onwenu, Nkem Owoh, and Ademola Adeyonin amongst others.
The movie is rated 18+ which makes it a movie for adults only.
5. Three Thieves

Here’s another Nigerian movie on Netflix you should watch if you love comedy. Three Thieves, which was released in October 2019, brings out all the laughter you have in you.
The movie is about 3 friends who were victims of a mistaken identity situation. As a result, they were employed to carry out a simple heist. What started as a simple job got very complex along the line.
Three Thieves was directed by Udoka Onyeka and written by Africa Udoh, Abba T. Makama, and Egbemawei Dimiyei Sammy. It runs for 108 minutes.
Actors who starred in this movie include Koye Kekere-Ekun, Shawn Faqua, Frank Donga, Angel Unigwe, Lucianne Ukpabi, Eric Obinna, Kalu Ikeagwu, Enado Odigie, and Wofai Fada amongst others. As a comedy movie, Three Thieves is rated 13+.
6. Awon Boyz

Awon Boyz is about the newest movies on this list as it was released in April 2021. It’s more of a documentary than a movie which makes it all the more interesting.
The Awon Boyz Documentary looks at the life of hustlers in the street of Lagos. It’s all about the Lagos struggling life including the infamous area boys in the region.
This documentary was directed by Tolutope Itegboje and produced by Zero degrees production. It’s very interesting as it goes into detail about the crime and violent lifestyle of Lagos’s notorious gangs.
Awon Boyz was shot in two main areas. The New Afrika Shrine in Opebi and Monkey Village in Oshodi. The documentary is a relatively short one as it runs for a duration of just 38 minutes.
7. Who’s The Boss

Who’s The Boss was released in February 2020 and is all about comedy and romance. In April 2021, it’s one of the best movies you can watch on Netflix.
The movie is about an ambitious worker who’s determined to get to the top despite all the challenges she’s facing. It runs for one hour and 45 minutes.
Who’s The Boss was written and directed by Chinaza Ozu. It features top actors including Funke Akindele, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Sharon Ooja, Segun Arinze, Beverly Osu, Tayo Faniran, and Bolly Lomo.
